A GROUP OF SIX YIXING PEWTER-ENCASED TEAPOTS, 19TH CENTURY
The group includes a double-gourd-form teapot with a poetic inscription to one side ending with the signature bu lang, with the reverse inscribed with the date 'tenth month of the Jichou year, ninth year of the Daoguang reign' (corresponding to 1829), and the interior of the teapot stamped with the mark of Yang Pengnian; a square-form teapot with ribbed sides, decorated to one side with a poetic inscription ending with the signature yun yan, with the other side incised with floral sprays and the interior stamped with an illegible mark; another ribbed teapot inscribed to one side with a poetic inscription ending with the date 'cyclical year of Yiwei' and the signature fu sheng, with the other side decorated with branches of bamboo and the interior stamped with the hallmark Shi De Tang; a hexagonal teapot inscribed to one side with a poetic inscription ending with the signature yi shan, with the other side decorated with a floral branch and the interior stamped with the mark of Fan Shuzeng; a teapot of ruyi cloud shape inscribed to one side with a poetic inscription ending with the signature you X, with the other side decorated with floral sprays and the interior stamped with the mark of Fan Shuzeng, the handle bound in bamboo wicker-work; and a teapot in the form of a bamboo section, inscribed to one side with a poetic inscription ending with the signature X quan with the other side decorated with bamboo branches. The spout, handle and cover finial of all teapots are inset with celadon jades.
