A George I mahogany and needlework inset fire screen, circa 1725, the shaped and moulded top rail above the shaped rectangular floral decorated inset needlework panel, on tapering outswept cabriole legs, joined by twin turned stretchers, terminating in pad feet, 121cm high, 73cm wide, 55cm deep Condition Report: Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and use. some sun fading overall. old splits and chips. some old losses, some old worm/ damage/ holes (see additional images) some old repairs. The screen is generally of solid structure and stands well.One foot previously broken off and re-glued and incorporating some fragments of associated timber. The needlework panel with repairs and some losses (see images) and a small number of holes/ partially detached elements (see images) Some fading, and wear. later textile to the reverse of the panel. Some likely minimal old adaption to the moulding of the upper corners of the frame to the facing side as the shape of the moulding seems to discontinue and there is a 'let in' element of neatly introduced moulding adjacent (see additional images) Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.
