A George I oak, pollard oak and feather banded bureau, circa 1720, the hinged fall opening to a baize writing surface, a slide over a well, and arrangement of pigeon holes and small drawers around a central cupboard door, above two short and two long graduated drawers, on bracket feet, 103cm high, 92cm wide, 53cm deep

Condition Report:
Marks, scratches and abrasions comensurate with age and use. Some old chips and splits, some small losses, some minor old repairs. Some relatively minor old worm damage. A very attractive 'toffee' colour overall. The surface is original and with some natural fading. The side panels are plain but well figured oak. The handles appear original. There are no alternate holes or marks for handles. The steel drawer locks are probably associated but are of 18th century date . Lacking keys. The lock to the fall is also associated but 18th century. The lock to the small interior cupboard is present and original and the operating key present. Feet and rear panels and all drawer linings are original (several drawer interiors have small 'cut out' sections where dividing fittings must have originally/ previously been placed. (see images) . Some supporting blocks to the feet are later. Overall a very attractive piece with a highly pleasing colour and in remarkable untouched original condition. (only exception being locks but are 18th century) Please refer additional images for visual reference to condition.
