A George II Silver Kettle, Stand and Lamp by Matthew Cooper, London, 1726

compressed globular and with part-turned wood overhead-swing handle, engraved with a coat-of-arms with another in pretence, the shoulder engraved with foliage and latticework, the conforming stand with three scroll legs and central lamp 37cm high, gross weight 75oz 19dwt, 2,362gr The arms are those of Bourchier with Wilson in pretence.

Fully marked under base. Further part marked inside cover. The edge of the base marked with lion passant, leopards head and date letter. The marks on the base rather work, the other marks clear. The base engraved with scratchweight '77oz=17dwt'. There is some overall surface scratching and wear. consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points and the engraving. The turned wood is probably replaced. There is some bruising and possibly some repairs to the top of the legs where the meet the rim. We are happy to provide Condition Reports to prospective buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale. We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a Condition Report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition.
