A George II giltwood and gesso wall mirror
A George II giltwood and gesso wall mirror, circa 1740, the rectangular plate within a gadrooned and egg and dart moulded border, with a stylised shell motif to each corner, 76cm high, 67cm wide
The applied sticker to the lower corner of the mirror plate is a Christies House sale lot sticker and reads CECIL BEATON, 148, JUNE 9 1980. It is presumed that this relates to this mirror being a lot in the auction held by Christies for the collection, or part of the collection of Sir Cecil Beaton (1904-1980). Further research will be conducted to attempt to confirm this.
