A George II silver, horn and steel twin pocket knife, mid 18th century, by James Bernardeau, bothblades stamped BER NADO, cased, 11cm long (closed); together with a folding tortoiseshell magnifying glass (2)James Bernardeau was a Maker and seller of razors, scissors, pen-knives, and lancets, as well as silver, china, ivory, and ebony handled knives and forks. Based out of the Pistol and L in Russell Court in Drury Lane, where he is recorded in 1726.Condition reportPlease note the catalogue description has been slightly adjusted (16th November). The knife has horn mounted sides and not agate as previously described.
