A George II silver sauce boat.

A George II silver sauce boat, the plain bellied form with shaped rim above engraved crest to one side depicting a crowned lion atop a further crown, with leaf capped flying scroll handle and raised on three foliate scroll supports to stepped bun feet. Hallmarked Gabriel Sleath, London 1743. Overall length 7.75" (19.5cm) and height 4.75" (12cm), weight 13.76 ozt (428 grams).

Condition Report:
- Displaying expected surface wear and tarnishing. Also contact marks, scratches and nicks commensurate with the age and use.
- Some heavier scratches and pitting marks to interior and some very slight impressions from the applied feet.
- Some minor edge nicks around rim and a couple of minor splits at the weak spots.
- Possible repair at the join of the handle to the rim.
- Some gaps around the surmounts of the feet joined to main body, filled with polish or dirt residues.
- Some loss of detail to crest engraving but overall still in good order.
- Appears steady on its feet.
- Hallmarks located to the base in a straight line, these are partly rubbed but still legible.
