A George II silver waiter or small salver.

A George II silver waiter, the raised foliate scroll border enclosing later flat chased scroll decoration, to a centrally engraved armorial, and the whole raised on three hoof feet. Hallmarked London 1746 and tentatively attributed to William Hunter. Maximum diameter 7.75" (19.5cm), weight 8.96 ozt (278.7 grams).

Condition Report:
- Similar maker's mark recorded in Jackson p.197, for Wm. Hunter. (Grimwade shows two similar marks, with attribution to William Hunter I and William Homer, p.224/225).
- Displaying general surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use.
- Underside especially with very heavy tarnish to the whole and would benefit from a clean and polish. Some verdigris around feet.
- Some heavier wear around the outer edge. Visible repairs to tips of two foliate motifs.
- Some heavier scratched marks and nicks visible to the centre of the dish around the armorial, and also to the underside.
- Armorial with significant loss of surface detail to some areas.
- One foot pushed in but appears to stand firm on its feet.
- Hallmarks located to the underside, rubbed but still legible.
