A George II walnut and parcel gilt wall mirror, circa 1740, the rectangular plate within a shaped foliate slip, the frame with a carved egg and dart border, surmounted overall by a pierced, C scroll and acanthus carved cresting, 117cm high, 70cm wide
Provenance: A country estate, Dumfriesshire
Condition Report:
Marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Some old splits and chips. Some chips, losses and rubbing to gilded elements. Rear panel is a later replacement and is fixed in place with brown tape. Mirror plate has age but we cannot guarantee it is original. Plate has some depletion 'bloom' and grey spots. Old screw holes to the back from previous fixtures. Some glued repairs to the carved c-scroll elements (see images). Elements have been previously re-gilded. Please refer to additional images for visual reference to condition.
