A George III Silver Chamber-Candlestick, by Robert Hennell, London, 1784, circular and with beaded rim, the central socket with detachable nozzle and with leaf-capped handle, engraved with the Middleton crest, 17cm wide, 8oz 2dwt
The crest is very possibly that of Charles Middleton the celebrated naval office who went on become First Lord of the Admiralty and later played a crucial role in the abolition of the slave trade. He was created Baron Barham in 1806.
