A George III Silver Mustard-Pot by Paul Storr, London. 1827
drum-shaped, with a fluted flower body and gadrooned rim, the hinged flat sover engraved with a crest below an earl's coronet and with a later thumbpiece modelled as an initial 'M', with scroll handle 10.5cm wide over handle, 6oz 1dwt, 188gr
Marked near rim and with maker's mark underneath. Further part marked inside cover. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the high points and to the engraving. The cover has perhaps been resoldered and the thumbpiece replaced. This has resulted in some broken fire visible to the surface. A Condition Report is an honest expression of our opinion, not a statement of fact and is provided as a service to the Seller. All lots are available on public view ahead of an auction and we encourage people to see an item in person when possible. Our Condition Reports are not prepared by professional conservators, restorers or engineers, and are prepared with the naked eye unless otherwise stated. Works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. We accept no liability for the opinions expressed in any Condition Report. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
