A George III brass and cast iron fire grate in neo-classical style, circa 1800, 76cm high, 84cm wide, 41cmProvenance: Private collection removed from 9, Royal Crescent, BathCondition Report: The back plate 74cm high, the central brass urns 62cm high, the base of the slatted log basket 30cm high, the shaped sides of the log basket 62.5cm high at the highest back point.Overall there are knocks, scratches and abrasions consistent with age and use.The back plate is cracked and repaired. There is pitting and some 'holes' including to the horizontal bars of the basket.The brass has been polished over the years so that some of the embossed and engraved decoration is slightly rubbed and less distinct.The serpentine shaped pierced frieze is mis-shapen and dented. The front left leg is not sitting quite square in relation to the urn.Please see the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition.Condition Report Disclaimer
