A George III mahogany side chair

A George III mahogany side chair, late 18th century, the rectangular back with shaped toprail, the supports and stretchers with Chinese Chippendale fretwork, together with a chair to match, of recent manufacture (2)Condition Report: George III chair - solid and stable, the seat rails are visable, the rear rail appears to be a replacement, the others with age, some old tackmarks and signs of old woodworm, signs of later glue to the supporting timber, this has probably been restored - the legs are polished, the spandrells with some old breaks and repairs, probably some later elements here too. 20th century chair - solid and stable, this is very fresh to the seat rails, the legs are darkly stained to simulate the period chair, as catalouged this of recent manufacture - the period chair was perhaps taken apart to aid the manufacture of this chair, both were probably then upholstered at the same time as the manufacturing processthe chairs each measure: 99cm high, 61cm wide, 63cm deep Condition Report Disclaimer
