[ translate ]

A George III silver Argyle, of pedestal vase form with simple bead borders, the removable domed lid with conforming vase finial and opening to reveal a cylindrical and lidded hot water compartment to the interior, also removable, the whole with a serpentine spout and curved wood handle. Hallmarked Edward Fernell, London 1785. Maximum height including finial measures 7" (18cm), gross weight 10.93 ozt (339.8 grams).

Condition Report:
- Appears in fairly good overall condition, displaying some expected surface wear, marks and scratches commensurate with the age and use.
- Heavy tarnishing throughout and would benefit from a clean and polish.
- Some small shallow dints and bumps to the main body.
- Small areas of damage around the fixing pins of the handle. Some very slight movement.
- Main lid with some knocks to the edge of the flange but is a good fit to main body.
- Hot water compartment also appears a good fit. Possibly a replacement finial to the pull off lid as does not match finial of main lid.
- Main hallmarks are located to the base and these are clear and legible. The hot water compartment and both lids are also struck with the lion passant and maker's mark, some distortion but all legible.
- Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
