A George III silver double beaker in the form of a barrel, by Peter, Ann & William Bateman.
A George III silver double beaker in the form of a barrel, with reeded bands over vertical incised line detail, and pulling apart to form two beakers with gilt interior. Hallmarked Peter, Ann & William Bateman, London 1803. Height 5.75" (14.5cm), weight 6.89 ozt (214.4 grams).
Condition Report:
- Displaying surface wear, marks, scratches and tarnishing, in keeping with the age and general use.
- Gilt interiors appear a little faded, also with some staining and tarnishing, and some 'pin prick' type marks to each interior base.
- Some minor surface dints and bumps and some impressions from exterior decoration visible to the interior.
- When pulled apart to form two beakers, the rims of both are a little misshapen. One in particular has a very rough edge to the rim with some dints, cracks and many visible repairs to the weaker areas, and especially around the incised line decoration.
- Due to the misshapen rims, they are a little tricky to fit back together.
- There are also some little dints and knocks around the base rims so that these are also a little misshapen.
- Hallmarks located to the base of each beaker. These rubbed but legible with heavier rubbing to the maker's marks.
- Condition reports are offered as a guide only and we highly recommend inspecting any lot to satisfy yourself as to its condition.
