A George III silver salver by Peter & Jonathan Bateman, the oval form with raised rim and simple reeded border, enclosing an engraved armorial to the centre below a presentation inscription, 'The Gift of James Barrow Esq.', and the whole raised on four splay feet. Hallmarked London 1790. Maximum length 14" (35.5cm), weight 27.08 ozt (842.5 grams).
Condition Report:
- Displaying general surface wear and tarnishing throughout and would benefit from a clean and polish.
- Many scratches, nicks and pitting marks are visible to the whole. Some of the scratched marks are fairly deep and large.
- Also a couple of very shallow dints.
- Some heavy solder visible around joins of feet indicating possible repairs.
- Stands fairly firm on its feet.
- Hallmarks located to the underside and these are clear and legible.
- Old sticker still present below hallmarks.
