circular form, pierced border with an outer beaded border, the centre engraved with an armorial shield within husk and foliate mantling, on three pierced bracket feet, the reverse lightly inscribed 'This Salver belonged to Jas Forster Knight (1751-1808). The Down House Blandford S. Mary. Arms of Forster of Bamborough Castle (Sic) See Hitchins History of Dorset, Editions I, II and III for Jas Forster and for Capt. James Forster Knight', diameter 34.1cm, approx. weight 35oz.
