A George III silver three piece tea service, including a teapot, twin-handled sugar bowl and cream jug, each of oval bellied form with reeded decoration and gadrooned rims above a 'basket weave' band, raised upon four shell feet, the teapot with curved wooden handle and knopped finial to the hinged lid. Hallmarked Charles Price, London 1811. Height of teapot measuring 6 inches (15.5 cm), gross weight 34.5 ozt (1075.3 grams).
Condition Report: In good overall condition, the lot displays general surface scratches, marks, wear and tarnishing commensurate with the age and use. All pieces would benefit from a clean and polish. The wooden handle on the teapot appears to be a later replacement, it appears loose at the joins with some sideways movement and the top fixture pin is sticking out, signs of repair along the edge of the 'basket weave' band with a small area of solder causing loss of definition, the wooden piece beneath the finial is cracked and split, the interior is significantly tarnished and discoloured. The top handle joins of the cream jug and sugar bowl are not completely flush. Maker's mark on the sugar bowl is rubbed, other hallmarks clear and legible.
