A George III sterling silver teapot, London 1815 by Robert Garrard I (reg. 11th Aug 1802)Of rounded circular form upon a moulded circular foot. The cast curved spout formed as C scrolls with a rocaille junction and a husk shell, opposite a wooden C scroll handled pinned to sockets, the upper one with a pendant drop. The hinged domed lid surmounted by a detachable wooden knop finial. The side engraved with a coat of arms with a Baroque style cartouche surmounted by a crest of an antelope's head erased, pierced through the back of the neck by an arrow’s head. Fully marked underneath and part-marked to the lid.Length – 23.5 cm / 9.25 inchesWeight – 544 grams / 17.49 oztThe arms and crest are for Chatterton of Castle Mahon, county Cork; Baronetcy [est. 1801]
