Kings pattern variant, the handle terminating in a cast dolphin, the blade pierced with teardrop motifs, the inscription reads, 'With this trowel, the first stone of, the lighthouse, ordered to be erected of the Corporation of Liverpool, upon the Perch Rock, was laid on Friday the 8th day of June 1817, by Thomas Littledale ESQ, Mayor', engraved with the crest of Liverpool, and another crest to the handle,
