A George V Silver Four-Handled Mether Cup, by Alexander Clark and Co. Ltd., Birmingham, 1926, in the medieval Irish style, tapering square section and with four loop handles, 10.5cm high, 9oz 5dwt, 288gr The mether is a form of traditional Irish vessel, typically made of wood, intended to be used as a drinking cup or for storage. While medieval in their origins these cups were made as part of the Celtic revival in the late 19th century and into the 20th century.

Fully marked near rim. There is some wear to the marks but each is legible. Stamped underneath with maker's name. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. There is some bruising to the rim, mostly minor. There is no engraving or indication that engraving has been removed. Sits level when placed on a flat surface. We are happy to provide Condition Reports to prospective buyers, but would welcome your request as soon as possible, preferably at least 48 hours before the Day of Sale. We cannot guarantee a reply to any requests made within 48 hours of the start of the auction. The absence of a Condition Report from a lot does not mean that the lot is in perfect condition.
