[ translate ]

tapering oblong and on four leaf-stamped feet, the hinged cover engraved with initials and opens to reveal a wood-lined base, the front engraved with an inscription 31.5cm wide The inscription reads 'Presented to Alderman Fred W. Millington, J.P. as a Token of Esteem on his 70th Birthday From the Directors and Staff of Fred W. Millington (1920) Limited 10th January 1936'.

Fully marked on bezel and further part marked on side of cover. There is some wear to the marks, particularly those on the bezel, though each is still legible. There is some overall surface scratching and wear, consistent with age and use. The wear is noticeable as a softening to the engraving. There are some bruises in places. The leather lining underneath with some staining and unevenness. A Condition Report is an honest expression of our opinion, not a statement of fact and is provided as a service to the Seller. All lots are available on public view ahead of an auction and we encourage people to see an item in person when possible. Our Condition Reports are not prepared by professional conservators, restorers or engineers, and are prepared with the naked eye unless otherwise stated. Works are not examined out of the frame, unless specifically stated. We accept no liability for the opinions expressed in any Condition Report. Tennants Auctioneers do not cover damage to gilded wood or plaster picture frames, or to picture frame glass whilst the item is in our possession.
