Blanckensee and Sons Ltd., Birmingham, 1937, the silver bell engraved with the traditional inscription and suspended from a frame, on ebonised wood base, applied with two plaques, one engraved 'Carlisle Summer Meeting 1938', the other with an inscription to the winner 'Master Bimbo', 19cm high
The Carlisle Bell is a flat horse race which was first run in 1599. The race gets its name from the bell which was presented to the winner, the oldest of which is copied here, having originally been given by Lady Dacre.
