A Georgian gold black garnet mourning ring, with hairwork panel and foliate shoulders.Ring size O. 3.6gms.
Condition Report: General light marks, discolouration and wear.
Engraving to inside of ring head reads 'In memory of Isaac Pearson, Ob 14 apr 1832, at 24'.
Width of ring head 1.1cms.
Moderate abrasion to glazed panel.
Garnets are an opaque black colour, well saturated.
Garnets with light to moderate abrasions and surface reaching inclusions.
Yellow metal electronically tests as approximately 14ct gold.
Fellows uses a Thermo Scientific Nitron Handheld XRF Analyser to test metals. This technology is limited to examining metal to a depth of approximately 8 microns.
