A Georgian gold memorial ring,
woven hair to a glazed panel, with a border of split pearls in clawed collets, to a black enamel surround. The underside of the head engraved 'In memory of Sir R D'Arcy Hildyard Br', to a tapered reeded shank. Tested as approximately 15ct gold, 4.54g.

Sir Robert D'Arcy Hildyard was the 4th Baronet of Patrington, in the County of York. He was High Sheriff of Yorkshire in 1783, and died in 1814 without male issue, at which time the baronetcy became extinct. The first Baronet, Sir Robert Hildyard, served as Gentleman to the Bedchamber of King Charles I, and as a colonel in the royal army during the Civil War. He was raised to baronetcy by Charles II following the Restoration of the Monarchy. The Hildyard family is an ancient line, with the earliest name on the pedigree being Robert Hildeyard, or Hildheard, of Normanby, c.1200.
