A German Gothic Revival Tall Case Clock
winterhalder & hofmeier, late 19th/early 20th century
the hood carved with architectural tracery above a brass dial cast with foliate scrolls and having a silvered chapter ring with Arabic numeral hours, signed M. Winterhalder & Hofmeier/ Neustadt Baden/ Germany, the straight trunk with glazed sides and architectural mullions, the whole flanked by octagonal columns with Corinthian capitals.
Height 88 3/4 x width 29 1/4 x depth 17 3/4 inches.
Estimate $ 800-1,200
Clock winds and runs but does not strike; later plastic wires rigging the hammers have been cut. Proper right side hood door missing its glass. Case in good condition overall; scratches consistent with age but heavier wear around the feet and one foot with an age separation. Eight tubes. No crank. Proper left side with some damage to its mullion at the lower edge. Additional photos available upon request.
