A Gilt-Painted Icon of Saints in Kiot.

Russia, Circa 19th Century. An icon of four saints, tempera and gilt painted on wood panel with incised floral/leaf border. Depicting Saint Panteleimon and others, in peaked-top shadowbox/kiot with silver-painted liner having an applied metal sunburst. 11 1/2" x 9 1/2" (kiot 16 1/2" x 13 1/4"). Condition: the icon in overall good condition, craquelure, possibly some spots of in-painting at bottom and borders; the kiot with numerous condition issues, including losses to veneer, other losses to sides/corners and old repairs, latch missing; the liner broken/detached at corners, losses to sunburst, losses to edges of glass/not fitted to box.
