Each painted in mineral pigments, ink, and gold, on a gold ground, the first with a blue bird with a long tail, perhaps an azure-winged magpie on a moss-covered rock beneath a blossoming prunus tree; the second with a pair of phoenixes standing underneath a flowering paulownia tree; the third with red and white peony flowers; the fourth with a scene of Chinese ladies in resplendent dress inside a well-appointed room, surrounded by blooming flowers of all four seasons, all originally folding fans, now just the unmounted leaf (4)
