A HONGMU 'DRAGON AND PHOENIX' TABLE-TOP CHEST, GUANPIXIANG
Late Qing Dynasty
Of rectangular form, supported on a raised platform carved at the front with confronted chi dragons, the front set with a pair of doors, carved with writhing five-clawed dragons pursuing a flaming pearl above waves and amidst cloud scrolls, the interior with four drawers above a larger drawer, all below the top section carved to the front with a pair of phoenixes opening onto a compartment with a tray panel, metal mounts, including a pair of handles. 46cm (18 1/8in) high x 43cm (16 7/8in) wide x 29cm (11 3/8in) deep.
