A Irish carved oak and pollard oak centre table, by R.McDonell, Dublin, mid 19th century, the circular top with a scale-carved moulded edge and segmented veneers, the pedestal carved with shells and dolphins, on a concave sided plinth and carved bun feet, the underside of the top inscribed with the maker's title to one of the bearers, 'R. McDonell, maker, Dublin, 72cm high, the top 155cm diameter
The design of this table is possibly based on an exhibition "Star of Brunswick" table by Henry Eyles. An example of Eyles table is in the collection of the Victoria & Albert Museum.
