of upright rectangular form with canted corners, the stepped aventurine quartz lid and base with a rose diamond-set platinum border centred by a band of four emerald cut amethysts, alternating with rose diamonds, within black enamel frame, the front carved with a stylised lotus flower pattern, further set with amethysts and diamonds, within matte borders, amethyst push piece, maker's mark, French post-1919 eagle's head control mark, platinum control mark
