A James II oak coffer, circa 1685, with geometric panels to the front interspersed with moulded pilasters, 59cm high, 113cm wide, 60cm deep Condition Report: Marks, knocks, scratches, abrasions consistent with age and use, The lid especially with old marks and stains, also dents, gouges and indentations, this is especially near where the keeper sits beneath - The lock keeper with some later timber retaining it to the lid, Some old chips, losses, old splits and cracks, some joints opening, missing some elements of the ebonised mouldingsThe strap hinges are large and held in place with hand made nails, they are possibly original - there is no clear evidence of others having been in place, they are recessed into the rear rail, there is a button to the top which corresponds with the placement of the present hinges.
