[ translate ]

A Japanese Meiji kutani porcelain lidded tureen
Meiji period (1868-1912) or later
Marked with Japanese characters in red enamel to the underside reading: Kutani Zo
The Buddha's Hand citron-shaped lidded dish with various insect and animal motifs rendered in polychrome enamel and gilt accents surmounted by a three-dimensional handle in the shape of a gnarled branch stem
6" H x 5" W x 7" D
Condition Report: Overall good condition with shelf wear, scattered minor scuffs, scratches, and inherent firing flaws commensurate with age. Crazing to the glazed finish throughout. Rubbed wear to the enameled decoration throughout, especially to the hand painted fauna. As well, there are two small chips to the interior rim of the lid. Felt pads applied to the underside. Condition reports are offered as a courtesy and are typically published in Moran's catalogue or can be made available upon request. The absence of a condition report does not imply that an item is free from defects or restoration, nor does a reference to particular defects imply the absence of others. Buyers are responsible for determining to their own satisfaction the true nature and condition of any lot prior to bidding. Though buyers are not legally required to inspect lots prior to purchase, failure to do so may constitute a waiver of complaint that an item was not delivered in a condition equal to the existent condition at the auction.
