A Japanese Meiji period bronze figure of a Samurai archer, holding a bow in his left hand and preparing to draw his arrow with his right hand, his robe decorated with formal crests mon, signed on the back in a rectangular reserve. This figure is demonstrating the Japanese martial art of Kyudo, which is an archery-focused martial sport which originated with Japan’s samurai class. Displayed on a wooden stand. CIrca 1890. Height 41cm, Width 24cm, Depth 21.5cm.
