A Japanese gold-inlaid iron miniature cabinet, Komai workshops, Kyoto Meiji period
Of rectangular form with two doors and a floriform clasp, the doors opening to reveal four drawers of different sizes, each with floral pulls; the sides of the cabinet richly inlaid and decorated with cartouches, one depicting an architectural landscape, another of a torii gate and shrine, and two with floral patterns; the rounded top with a ring handle; all raised on four bracket feet; the underside with Komai nine-character mark; the interior with an old note inscribed "Ladies jewel box Damascene ware Japan-Toykio [sic] 1896"
