A KASHAN COBALT BLUE AND BLACK-PAINTED POTTERY BOWL WITH SIX-POINTED STAR DESIGN Kashan, Iran, late 12th - 13th century Of deep rounded shape, resting on a short, upright, circular foot, with an everted rim, underglaze-painted in cobalt blue and black against a white ground, the interior decorated with a central roundel featuring a large six-pointed stellar design set on top of a flower head with lobed petals, framed within a cobalt blue beaded band, the frieze below the rim presenting strapwork design with clusters of four cobalt blue dots against a black hatched ground, the exterior with cusped black arches alternating clusters of blue dots, 19.8cm diam. and 8.5cm high.Click here to share:
