A Kenzan-type sukashi bachi. 18th century or later

Of oval shape with an irregular and pierced rim, painted in iron-black with bamboo leaves underneath a whitish glaze giving the impression of snow and snowflakes. The base inscribed in iron-black within a white rectangular reserve Fuso Hôei kinoto-tori (1705) Kenzan Toin tsukuru kore. At the base old collector's number E ...7. written in ink and an old paper label with the number 04.16 written in ink.
Height 8.4 cm; width 24.2 cm

The inscription, with varying dates, is known from several flat dishes painted with "classical" themes and produced at Narutaki in the years 1699 to 1712. Sukashi bashi where produced by Kenzan mainly in the 1720s.
