A LARGE CARVED RED LACQUER TABLE SCREEN, 19TH CENTURY

The rectangular panel is carved on one side depicting an old man with a boy attendant in a mountainscape, the reverse is carved with four characters reading zi sun bao zhi (for offspring to worship) in the center and another four characters reading yi di jing zao (made by House of Yi) at each corner. The screen is raised on a trestle support decorated with lotus scrolls on key-fret and diaper ground flanking the side posts.

CONDITION REPORT:
The condition of lots can vary widely and the nature of the lots sold means that they are unlikely to be in a perfect condition. Lots are sold in the condition they are in at the time of sale.

We have sought to record changes in the condition of this piece acquired after its initial manufacture.
Screen:
-There is loss to two corners, and a few restored areas to the edges.
-There are expected cracks and surface abrasion.
-The screen has been possibly refreshed.
-There is restoration to one corner.
-There are chips to edges.

Stand:
-There are chips and cracks to the edges.
-Some areas have been possibly refreshed, particularly the central panel and the lower part of the feet.
