A LARGE FRENCH LOUIS XVI PERIOD ORMOLU AND VERDE MARBLE CLOCK
Signed 'Revel a Paris' for the master horologer Joseph-Marie Revel (1775-1811).
With exceptional gilt bronze mounts, the drumshaped case below and eagle against which are two classical figures representing reading and writing, with a central plaque of a woman and putti at a torchiene, mounts of sphinxes and roundels with the head of Hermes.

Condition: The condition of the case is very good. There is some repair required to the right hand circular insert at the bottom of the base. It's loose but nothing is missing. The movement is in working order but has not been tested for time.
