A LARGE GERMAN SILVER-GILT TWO HANDLED SOUP TUREEN, COVER, AND STAND, GOTTLIEB MENTZEL, AUGSBURG, CIRCA 1711-15

inverted baluster circular form chased with Régence foliate scroll and diaper-work panels, the body chased in relief with four interspersed masks, the cover and stand similary Régence chased with interspersed male and female portrait medallions, ornate scrolling wood handles and finial

3531gr., 113oz. 10dwt. total

Condition Report:
Good clear marks to underside of tureen and rim of stand. The cover unmarked. The masks on the body may have been re-chased. The body is slightly uneven between the body and the foot. Later gilded over some surface wear and a couple of old repairs - possibly 20th century. Otherwise good condition.
