A LARGE RUSSIAN SILVER & NIELLO CIGAR CASE, MOSCOW 1863. Comprising a large and silver cigar case of rectangular form with rounded corners, the hinged lid beautifully nielloed with a scene of Red Square featuring the famous monument to Minin and Pozharsky. The verso with chased designed, central engraved medallion and nielloed borders of scrolling foliage. The interior brightly gilded. Hallmarked Moscow, dated 1863, Cyrillic maker's mark AC, probably for Alexie Stepanov, and with 84 standard. Length 5.25 inches (13.5 cm).
