LARGE THACHER’S CALCULATING INSTRUMENT
Keuffel & Esser Co., New York, circa 1917
Large complex cylindrical slide-rule, no 4013, being a 19 ½ inch long central cylinder rotating beneath 20 triangular rules, ends fitted with wooden knobs, attached to brass fittings, and mounted onto wooden base. Complete with original magnifying glass mounted onto brass bar, housed in the original 24 inch long mahogany box with manufacturer's label. WITH: THACHER, EDWIN. Directions for Using Thacher's Instrument. New York: Keuffel & Esser Co. 1917.
Patented by Edwin Thacher in 1881, this complex slide rule could perform various calculations involving multiplication and division, and proportion up to five figures.
