A LATE 19TH/EARLY 20TH CENTURY ROCK CRYSTAL, GOLD AND ENAMEL SEAL
The cylindrical rock crystal engraved to one end with the crest for the 10th Royal Hussars and to the other 'Violet', three gold mounted sleeves with red, white and black enamel bands, 8.40 cm, in fitted red leather case with applied name, Violet to the cover, case stamped J.C.VICKERY 183 REGENT ST W.

Provenance

Violet Bathurst, Lady Apsley (1895-1966), born Violet Mildred Emily Meeking, 29 April 1895 in Marylebone, London, was the daughter of Captain Bertram Meeking of the 10th Hussars and his wife, Violet Charlotte (née Fletcher).

This seal was presumably the gift of her father, possibly to Lady Apsley or her mother and by descent.
