(A) LOT OF 2: PAIR OF FRENCH MODEL 1837 PERCUSSION

Lot consists of a classic pair of French maritime pistols. Standard configuration with round barrels mounted with a captive swivel ramrod, belt hooks, back action percussion locks, brass furniture, rotatable lanyard loops, and normal proofs throughout. Pistol (A) marked for manufactured at Chatellerault, with 1319 assembly number ahead of nipple, (B) for Tulle, dated 1842 on right side of breech. CONDITION: Very good. (A) has had barrel cleaned in the European fashion over some scattered darkness. Brass has a deep mustard patina. Wood has numerous handling and usage marks throughout, with a crack on right side of the tang, partially hidden by cock. Mechanically fine, bore has some oxidation throughout. (B) barrel also cleaned in the European fashion with some scattered darkness, with cock having more noticeable areas of oxidation. Brass with a deep mustard patina. Wood has numerous handling marks and a few chips but free of cracks. Mechanically fine, bore has even oxidation throughout. A nice pair of French naval pistols.
