(A) LOT OF 2: TOWER PERCUSSION RIFLES.

Lot consists of: (A) British Pattern 1853 rifled musket made in 1857. Round rifled barrel with blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. Barrel has Tower proof marks with broad arrow acceptance marks. Percussion lock dated 1857 and marked Tower and with crown at rear of stock. Walnut full musket stock with 3 steel barrel bands and brass hardware. Regimental marks on top of buttplate with a "U.C." stamping on left side of stock and illegible stamp on toe. CONDITION: Overall good with metal turning patina with silvery patches here and there on barrel. Wood retains traces of varnish with usage marks and dings. Bore full of cosmoline with good mechanics. (B) British Pattern 1858 Naval musket made in 1859. Nickel finish round rifled barrel with blade front sight and adjustable rear sight. British proofs on rear of barrel. Nickeled percussion lock marked "1859 Tower" and "Crown" marking at rear of lock. Chained percussion nipple protector. Walnut stock with nickel-finished brass hardware except for nose cap. 2 steel nickel plated barrel bands. CONDITION: 60% of possible added nickel finish with areas of plating flaking off. Wood has been cleaned with layer of cosmoline added. Bore is full of cosmoline and mechanics are good.
