A LOUIS XV BEECH AND CREAM PAINTED FAUTEUILBY JEAN-BAPTISTE LEBAS, CIRCA 1765The underside of the back seat rail stamped 'J.LEBAS' 91cm high, 66cm wide, 58cm deep overall Provenance: Private Collection, LondonCondition Report: Various marks, knocks, scratches and abrasions commensurate with age and use. Old splits, chips and some small losses. The painted surface with various flaking, wear and losses - as illustrated. Some minor movement within frame and arms but chair is structurally solid overall. The underside of the back seat rails tamped 'J.LEBAS'. Later replacement wooden dowels used to the backs of the front legs where they meet the seat rails. The back of one rear leg with an old dowel and glue repair. There is a small section of replacement timber inset to the back of one side rail. Upholstery in generally good order overall with just the expected minor wear and some discolourations. Some old tack holes visible to frame from where previous upholstery sat.
