Condition Report:
In overall good condition, with marks and scratches consistent with age and use. There are some losses to the veneer, most notably to the upper border and to the frieze drawer, as visible from the catalogue photograph. There are horizontal shrinking cracks on the fall-front marquetry panel, which also has a restoration to the veneer on the lower-right side.
The fall front opens correctly and is not tilted, the hinges being sound; the later tooled-leather writing surface is in reasonable condition, with one horizontal area of wear. The pair of doors each with one restored vertical shrinking crack. One further vertical crack is visible on the lower part of the left return.
The gilt-bronze chutes on the angles are tarnished; the key escutcheons are later.
