Property from the Coats Collection
Joseph Crawhall, R.S.W.
1861-1913
A Lady Alighting from a Hansom Cab

signed J. Crawhall (lower left)
gouache on linen
unframed: 42 by 43cm.; 16½ by 17in.
framed: 72.5 by 71cm.; 28½ by 28in.
Executed circa 1894.

We are grateful to Vivien Hamilton for her kind assistance with the cataloguing of the present work.

Condition Report:
The work is executed on Holland linen, which has been laid down onto a backing card. The edges are unevenly trimmed and frayed in places, hidden beneath the mount. There are Artist's pinholes to the corners and in places along the edges. There is glue and paper residue in places around the edges. Some specks of surface dirt. Otherwise the work appears to be in very good overall condition and retains strong punctuations of colour. Held in a drawing frame and white mount and framed under glass.

Please contact Thomas.Podd@sothebys.com for any further information regarding the present work.

Please note that Condition 11 of the Conditions of Business for Buyers (Online Only) is not applicable to this lot.
