A Laotian bronze figure of Buddha Shakyamuni. Dated 1869
Seated in meditation on a high base with engraved inscription including the date to the lower border. The hands held in dhyana mudra resting in his lap, the sash over the shoulder and the knees formerly with glass inlays.
Height 41,5 cm
The inscription arround the base reading "In the year 1231 (corresponding to 1869) this great Buddha was cast of yellowish bronze to survive 5000 years and spread the Buddha's teachings".
