Note:
This skyphos was attributed to the Group of Vatican Y14 by A.D. Trendall in personal correspondence, January 16, 1992. Trendall notes especially very similar pattern-work in other vases attributed to this group, as well as similarities in the artist’s treatment of the tambourine held by the female on the obverse. This piece was later published in Trendall’s supplements to The Red-figured Vases of Apulia. A copy of this correspondence will be provided to the purchaser.
